champagne -> dom

A visit to the region is a must for all lovers of Champagne. As well as the famous names you will discover many of the less well known who are producing spectacular Champagnes that may well prove a challenge to your old favourites.

Dom Perignon, famous as the monk who invented the Champagne Method" was born nearby in Sainte Menehould, his statue is located in a small park beside the river in Sainte Menehould.

.The grape harvest

In September all the grapes are picked throughout the Champagne region and taken to the "pressoirs". We were fortunate last year as we were invited to join the Champenois tradition, and spent a day helping pick the grapes.
